Now on to Homework……….
All of my homework assignments for the week are listed under the
'Homework'
section on the Mayo homepage after clicking on teachers and
finding Mrs. Brimner. My schedule is also on the homepage so you can see which
hour I'm free if you would like to contact me with any problem or issue. I am
the easiest to get a hold of through e-mail, but you may call Mayo at anytime
and I will get to your call as soon as possible. I'm also here before and after
school if any issues arise or if your student needs additional
help.
Expect to see homework on a daily basis- All homework
assignments for the week are put on a homework board in class on Mondays.
Students are expected to write these assignments down in their weekly agenda so
they know what will be expected out of them in English/Reading for that week.
This also gives you a great opportunity to see what his/her homework
assignments are and what they should have completed.
Grading Policy
1.
All homework is due when called for in class.
2.
If a student does not have their homework at that time, the student will have
till 3:30 that day to complete the assignment for partial credit.
3.
Grading Scale
A
= 90% - 100%
B
= 80% - 89%
C
= 70% - 79%
D
= 60% - 69%
F
= 0% - 59%
4.
If a student continues to fail to turn homework in, students and parents will be
informed of his/her failure to follow homework procedures. Then appropriate
action will be taken this could include homework detentions, intervention from
grade level team, and/ or ISS. Hopefully students will get homework completed
and turned in on time to keep everything running smoothly.
5.
Remember homework is a very important part of the success of a student in this
class. Lack of homework will result in a lower grade and can cause the student
to fail. Keeping the agenda up to date with assignments and using class time and
study hall time wisely will help make sure all assignments are
completed
Make- Up Homework
If a student is absent, it is their responsibility to get the notes from the
teacher or another student from the previous day(s). All papers passed out
on the day of their absence will be located on the back table in a pink folder that says, “Absences.”. The students have the same number of days they were absent to turn the make-up
work in.
Watch out for PBIS at Mayo Middle School
PBIS is a common approach to discipline. Expectations are
positively stated for all students and staff. Procedures are in place for
teaching these expectations to students. It's also a tool for discouraging
rule-violating behavior. There are procedures for monitoring and evaluating the
effectiveness of the discipline system on a regular and frequent
basis.
A small number of clear expectations
are defined: Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be Safe. Staff is able to state
and use the expectations and interpret them uniformly.
Students are taught
the expectations during advisory activity days or during other times during the
school day. Appropriate behaviors are reinforced.
